Preview of my training videos...

From the previous post you now know a little about my past and I want to show you how I managed to get fit again without having to use weights or a gym.

The towel exercises are very intense. It is important to pull the towel apart between 80 and 100% during the exercise. I have a whole variety of these and the athletes who have trained them with me say they are “legendary”.

The cool thing about them is that you CANNOT INJURE YOURSELF as you use your own strength and intensity on your own body instead of an outer weight dominating you. But the intensity is just as high if even not higher.

If you want to copy the shown example, make sure you do the movements precisely. If you have questions don’t hesitate to contact me.

By the way…: the music is from my former band and I am the guy on the drums. We recorded that at my house on Lanzarote. I hope it is not too bad but it's illegal to take artist’s music as they normally have a copyright…

Enjoy

One to one million… my second life

Why do I have this blog and post you people out there parts of my life?!? Is it because I have such a big ego and want to show off?!?

I’ll tell you the reason:

Spanish media takes notice

February 16th 2008 I was out training with my bike. I got run down by a car which struck me from behind with approximately 100km/h.

My bike....

I got totally smashed and broke four backbones, three ribs, my shin and dislocated my ankle apart from multiple bruises. I was closest to a spinal tap! Six weeks hospital followed. The medics there said that you normally don’t survive an accident like this and the chance of surviving is like “one to one million”. Further they said I would never be able to do sports or go running again…!!!

Fight or give up...?!?

When you lay in hospital you have a lot of time to think … lots of time. I drew the decision not to give up and grasp every chance I had to recover. I started rehab and did exactly what I am doing at the moment: I built myself up step by step. I did the right things at the right moment and always believed in my success!

Only beaten by the PROs

15 months after this nearly fatal accident I raced the IRONMAN Lanzarote and finished in 9:35:15 being 21st overall and smashing the age group record. I qualified for the Ironman Hawaii. Two months after that I raced the Spanish long distance championships (at that time I still lived in Spain) and won the age group with course record as well.

One of the medics treating me after the accident Darius Mielevski said he would have never believed I could do so…

Fastes in Spain

I don’t have any problems left over from the accident, no physical limitations and have a so much stronger faith in achieving goals I set myself. I had the choice to go forward and accomplish my set goals.

So now you know why I always invite you to read my blog: I have a goal and I will achieve it… step by step…!

Thanks to you all and by the way:

I have this blog since two months now and I have had over 2000 visitors during this time. Thanks for that…

My indoor training laboratory….

Living in Hamburg is cool! But: Germany has something which is called „WINTER“. Rain, snow, wind and cold are the normal symptoms of this disease. And I purely have it.
The only way to handle this and cure it is to try and get used to getting up in the dark and going to bed in the dark or even better: going to work in the dark and coming back from work in the dark. I feel a little like a blind mole..!!!

My laboratory

Now what about my training then?!?

I have a “personal training laboratory” called gym. Here I spend up to 1:30 hours on the tread mill (yes… I am nuts!!!) or swim in a 25m pool where I get dizzy from all the tumble turns I need to do when training e.g. 45 minutes continuous crawl.

Tabayesco: 10K climb from 0 to 575m alt.

I must admit that Lanzarote really spoilt me! Thanks to Kim and a few other boys and girls (“Hi” to Franzi) I had a terrific time and even climbed Tabayesco in 28 minute (insiders will know and thanks Nico…) and that with no bike training before at all. Coming back from “The Rock” cost me one whole day as the flight controllers in Spain were on strike!!! I returned to Germany total smacked from just sitting around.

I have announced this before and I am going to post all of you my main objective for the next season but I am waiting hopefully for some good news of Kenneth Gasque, a dear friend of mine who is the race director of the Ironman Lanzarote. No worries: I am not going to race Lanza…!!!

Take care everyone and “see you” says the blind mole….
