Time is ticking by and I am doing my homework: swimming in the early mornings, biking as often as I can (mostly on the week ends) and running lots of Ks.
When I look at my road map to the Ironman Frankfurt, I should be able to swim 2000m in 29 minutes, do 80 Ks with an 34 km/h average and run 23 Ks in 1:30:00 H by now. Well, the news is that I am well ahead of these targets. My biking surprises me the most and I had an awesome ride last week.
The toll you pay for training is that your material gets wasted: my running shoes died yesterday after averaging 80 Ks per week in the last half year. They are now resting in peace together with the house hold trash of others. Now here is a little more of my plans for the next months: I will be doing the Challenge of Fuerteventura (1,9 swim – 90 bike – 21 run) as warm up for the season. My intention is to do a solid race without going at top speed. I have not been able to do much intense training here in Germany so I’d better not try things I don’t have under control.
The first “real” race will be the Volcano on Lanzarote (Olympic distance). I have done this race several times and love it: lot’s of people I know and lots of top athletes as well. This one will be “die or fly” for me….!By the way: thanks Lenni, Fränkie, Mareike (Bein Godek), Britta (you’ll be back stronger that before!), Kim (Oakleys are the best) and a few others for inspiring me so much. Achieving high goals is always a matter of the right “ping pong” partners…
Hasta pronto…
